Greensboro Ecstatic Dance
A container for unstructured dancing, we provide a safe space for people who want to explore the deep benefits of dance. Come tap into your own movements to the five different rhythms of music we play at Ecstatic Dance. Embrace your spontaneity and joy at your own pace in your own way, to your own rhythm.
All ages, genders, levels of experience and body types are welcome. Come and dance, dance as little or as much as you need, the space is open, the dancefloor is yours.
What is it like at an Ecstatic Dance?
We play five different rhythms of music, usually world electronic and fusion, the music always starts slow and rises to a peak of high energy, then it descends again. The dancefloor is a conversation free environment.
We c0-create a safe environment for everyone and we know that dancing can be intense and challenging for some, we come together to dance with and for ourselves, we do it in community, we can’t wait to see you there.
What We Stand For
We stand for togetherness, for embracing our need for community and stepping out of the box to share space differently, in a new way, where the scripted words are dropped, the differences don’t matter and our hearts beat freely to encourage those around us, to let themselves do the same.
We stand for Inclusion, everybody needs to dance and everybody is welcome to, no skills are needed, no techniques, nothing but an abandon, we welcome everyone, we welcome YOU.
We stand for respect, we respect our pace, our style, our body’s needs. We respect everyone’s space, spirit and right to take space. We dance together in harmony, honoring all that lies within each of us, as it is the same life force that flows through all of us.
We stand for consent. If you wish to dance with someone you must ask for consent, if you wish to say no to someone you are cherished and empowered to safely say no. We support and enforce consent between all dancers.
